Ninety-two Indian pharmaceutical companies are taking part in Pharmaconex 2026 in Cairo, as Indian and Egyptian firms look to expand cooperation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, technology transfer, research, and healthcare supply chains.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, India’s Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy said Indian pharmaceutical companies had already established a significant presence in Egypt and were working with Egyptian partners on manufacturing, technology transfer, joint production and market development.
“Indian pharmaceutical companies have also developed a significant presence in Egypt and have been working closely with Egyptian partners in a number of areas, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, technology transfer, joint production and market development,” Reddy said.
India, widely known as the Pharmacy of the World, is a major pharmaceutical manufacturing and export hub, with Indian medicines and pharmaceutical products sold in markets worldwide, Reddy said.
The vaccine sector is one area where the two countries have already developed manufacturing and technology partnerships. These include collaborations involving India’s Serum Institute and Egypt’s Vacsera, Zydus Lifesciences and ZenVax, and Biological E and Gypto Pharma.
The partnerships have helped support the transfer of vaccine production technology to Egypt, strengthening local manufacturing capacity and healthcare supply chains.
The participation of 92 Indian companies at Pharmaconex is expected to create opportunities for businesses from both countries to pursue further partnerships in pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, technology transfer, and innovation.
The exhibition also comes as Egypt seeks to expand domestic pharmaceutical production and develop more resilient healthcare supply chains.
